Introduction
VisFlip ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and in parts of the Service. This Cookie Policy explains what these technologies are, how we use them, and the choices available to you. For information about personal data more generally, see our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies may include local storage, pixels, tags, scripts, and device or browser identifiers. We use "cookies" in this policy as a general term for these technologies.
Types of technologies we may use
Essential technologies
These technologies are needed to provide, secure, and operate the Site or requested features. They may support:
- Authentication and account sessions;
- Security and abuse prevention;
- Language, theme, and other essential preferences;
- Remembering your cookie choice; and
- Routing, load balancing, and basic service operation.
Essential technologies cannot be disabled through our optional cookie controls because doing so may prevent the Service from working correctly.
Functional technologies
These technologies remember choices or support features you request, such as interface preferences or an in-progress workflow. Depending on the feature, they may be stored by VisFlip or by a service operating that feature.
Google sign-in
When you choose to sign in with Google, we use Google authentication independently of analytics choices. In supported browsers, Google Identity Services may use FedCM, where the browser mediates sign-in. In EEA, UK, Switzerland and unknown regions, VisFlip does not automatically start Google One Tap or load its GIS library on a normal visit. The ordinary Google sign-in button remains available even when analytics are declined. In standard regions, One Tap may be offered automatically when enabled and you are signed out; automatic account selection is disabled.
Statistics and experience diagnostics
Your privacy settings separate three purposes. Reject all turns off all three; essential functions remain available. You can also allow each purpose separately through Cookie Settings in the footer.
| Purpose | Technology and recipient | Data and behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Basic statistics | Self-hosted Plausible, operated for VisFlip | Aggregate page visits, traffic sources and device/region summaries without cookies. Requires consent in EEA, UK, Switzerland and unknown regions. Elsewhere it may run until you decline or turn it off. |
| Analytics | Google Analytics (Google) and self-hosted OpenPanel | Traffic and feature usage, pages and technical request information. Both require Analytics consent worldwide. We do not send account IDs, email addresses, prompts, uploaded files or filenames as event properties. OpenPanel strips query strings and fragments from page locations, reduces referrers to their origin, and disables automatic outbound-link tracking, custom-attribute capture and session replay. |
| Experience diagnostics | Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft) | Heatmaps, page interactions and session recordings. Requires a separate Experience diagnostics choice worldwide. Advertising storage remains denied. |
“Cookieless” does not mean no data is processed. Analytics requests can expose technical information such as IP address and user agent to the receiving service. We do not use the basic statistics integration for account identification or advertising.
The Google Analytics script may download before consent, which makes a request to Google, but measurement is disabled until Analytics consent. OpenPanel and Clarity scripts load only after their respective consent. We do not use GA or Clarity cookieless measurement to bypass a refusal. Advertising scripts are disabled.
Cloudflare country metadata is used only to select a strict or standard default. An unavailable or unrecognized location uses the strict default. The app does not retain the country or IP for this decision, and does not call a separate geolocation service.
Storage, retention and withdrawal
The cookie_consent preference stores the three choices, a policy version and the time of the choice for up to 180 days. Old or invalid preferences prompt a new choice. Optional GA and Clarity identifiers follow their service and account settings. A utm_source attribution cookie may be stored for up to 30 days only after Analytics consent.
Turning off an active category refreshes the page to unload its scripts; save unfinished work first. We clear accessible optional cookies for the categories you disable. Previously transmitted data is not recalled by withdrawing consent. Data retention, recipients, international processing and rights are also addressed in our Privacy Policy. Self-hosting does not by itself establish an EU hosting location or a particular retention period.
Provider references: Google privacy information, Microsoft privacy statement, Plausible data policy, and OpenPanel privacy information. The self-hosted instances’ operation and retention remain VisFlip’s responsibility.
Representative cookies and identifiers
The names and durations of cookies may change as the Service and its providers change. The following are representative examples:
| Cookie or identifier | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
cookie_consent | Remembers your optional cookie choice | Up to 180 days | Essential |
PARAGLIDE_LOCALE | Remembers your language preference | Persistent or until changed | Essential |
| Session and security cookies | Maintains authentication and protects requests | Varies | Essential |
| Optional analytics identifiers | Measures usage and performance where enabled | Varies | Optional |
| Optional advertising identifiers | Delivers or measures advertising where enabled | Varies | Optional |
External services operating analytics, advertising, authentication, payment, customer-support, or other features may set their own cookies or identifiers. The applicable services and their names may change by feature, region, account, and configuration. Those services may have separate privacy notices governing their processing.
Your choices
On your first visit, the Site may let you accept all measurement, reject all measurement, or customize each category. You can review or change your choice at any time through Cookie Settings in the site footer, where that control is available.
When you decline optional technologies, we will stop or restrict optional integrations covered by our consent control and clear optional cookies that we can access on our domain. Browser security rules may prevent us from deleting identifiers stored by external domains.
Browser settings
Most browsers let you view, delete, block, or limit cookies. You can also configure separate settings for individual websites. Blocking essential cookies may sign you out, prevent preferences from being saved, or make parts of the Service unavailable.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no consistent industry standard for DNT signals, the Site may not respond to every DNT signal automatically. You can still manage cookie choices through the controls described above.
Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or legal requirements. We will post the updated version and date on this page.
